International Services

The following documents must be received by CPCC before your application will be considered:

 

  1. Application Forms Each applicant must complete the Personal Data Sheet and the International Student Pre-Application Checklist (see Forms 1 and 2). Form 3 must be completed by the student's sponsor.

     

  2. Evidence of Financial Support
    Tuition, books, medical insurance, and living expenses for one academic year will cost at least $13,800 (Tuition $6337.75*; medical insurance $264; living expenses and books $7196). Please add an additional $5,000 for each dependent. We must have a statement from your sponsor's bank that shows the above amount on deposit in US dollars. This must be an ORIGINAL DOCUMENT. No copies will be accepted. This document, along with Form 3 (to be filled out by the Sponsor) must be completed and submitted as part of the Evidence of Financial Support. It is also advisable to send another original bank letter with the I-20, therefore please obtain two original letters from the bank.

     

  3. Evidence of English Competency
    Applicants must submit one of the following test results to demonstrate English competency:

    • Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (iBT TOEFL) published and administered in most countries by the Educational Testing Service, www.ets.org/toefl. Before entering a full-time academic (college) program, a student is required to have a minimum Internet Based Test (IBT) score of Reading 17; Listening 17; Speaking 16 and Writing 16. If any single score falls below the minimum, the student is required to take, and complete, the Academic English as a Second Language (ESL) Program
      OR
    • Academic International English Language Testing System exam Academic (IELTS). Before entering a full-time academic (college) program, a student is required to have a minimum Academic IELTS score of Reading 6.5; Listening 6.5; Speaking 6.5 and Writing 6.5. If any single score falls below the minimum, the student is required to take, and complete, the Academic English as a Second Language (ESL) Program.

    CPCC no longer accepts Paper-based TOEFL (pBT) or Computer-based (cBT) TOEFL. However, the Academic IELTS exam has been added.

    Students who successfully complete the top level of CPCC's Academic ESL program do not need a TOEFL or IELTS score.

     

  4. Official Diploma/Transcripts
    Any applicant who wishes to pursue a program of academic study must forward a certified copy of his/her official high school diploma and transcript with an English translation. If a student is transferring from another US institution, the student must include a copy of his/her transcript from that institution, even if only EFL classes were taken. If an applicant wishes to study only English as a Foreign Language (EFL), no high school diploma is necessary. (unless the student is younger than 18)

     

  5. Photograph
    A passport-size photograph must be attached to Form 1.

     

  6. Form 4 If you are transferring from another college or university in the USA, please mail Form 4 (Transfer Recommendation Form) to the International Student Office at your previous school for them to complete.   7. Housing
    Central Piedmont Community College has no dormitories or residence halls. All students must arrange for housing away from the College. Charlotte provides a wide range of reasonably priced housing.
